life's sweet prizes

happiness
Happiness! Gigukod ang anak sa amahan kay ang anak, abtik na gidagan ang premyo. hihi.

Believe it or not, I’m not really fond of parties (especially big ones) and mga kalaagan. :hide: I love to just stay at home. If only there weren’t any errands to run on weekends, I swear, I’d just be at home and still be busy. I remember in my hometown, my neighbors always get surprised when they see me out. They used to tease me, “Magmungha ka?” hahaha! :hide:

But for now, it has to change...for my daughter and husband, of course.

Last Saturday, we attended a birthday party and my little family had a blast. Khandi enjoyed being there. Nag-latas2x ra from our table to the front where they held the games. She fell in line like the rest of the kids (although mag-balhin2x. haha!) She laughed with the rest of the kids and even played with them. The clown named her, "Khandi, the flower" kay apil-apilon man. haha! She also laughed at her dad when he played hep-hep, hurray, and when he won, she went up to him and together they went to get their prizes. Thus, the picture above. That moment, I hold dear to my heart. It was a mix of feelings that would let you blush like a schoolgirl. One feeling was certain though: I was a proud parent and wife. =)

While Khandi was busy doing her thing up front, it was happiness to see happiness in my husband’s eyes not only because he was a proud parent but also because he was happy to see his friends whom he hadn’t seen or talked to in person for so long. =) I've also seen and felt that his friends were also so happy, excited, and surprised to see him around. They even didn’t get enough of each other that after the party, we went to one of his friends’ place so we (yes, including the wives na apil-apilon. haha!) talk some more and have to come back the next day for a sugba-sugba, and that would be another blog entry. Hehe.

It's just happiness to see your loved ones happy around friends (and other kids), even if that means for me to go out of the house more often than the usual. Toinks.=)

La lang. Share lang nako ang simpleng kalipay sa kinabuhi sa usa ka inahan og asawa. Bow. :hide:

winner pose sa iyat! hihi.

In one of their playdates, Khandi and Bryenon rushed to me to report what they saw (so I thought. Hehe.)

Bryenon: Ackroch! Ackroch! (pointing to the gate)
Me: What is it, Brye?
Jenny: Ay cockroach kuno teh. Naa ubos sa gate.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Khandi calling me:

Khandi: Mimi! Mimi!
Me: What man, Khan?
Khandi: Ak-ak! Ak-ak! (pointing to the gate and ran farther covering her eyes.)

Ok-ok jud! LOL! With feelings ra ba unta oi. Hahaha!

********************
One weekend while I was busy doing a chore, I noticed Khandi , who was also busy in her own corner. So I asked.

Me: What are you doing, Khan?

Khandi: cook...
Me: What are you cooking?
Khandi: ‘is…’is…
Me: That’s not fish oi. It’s corn! (since she was playing with her plastic corn toy)
Khandi: ‘is…’is…(this time with conviction.)

Da! Mais lagi diay. Hahaha! Korek japon.

****************
One night, Khandi and I were so excited to use the new crayons and drawing book I brought her. I drew a flower.

Me: Look, Khan. I drew a flower. (pointing at the drawing)
Khandi: ‘wer…’wer...(nodding her head)
Me: Yes. Flo…wer.
Khandi: Mimi…mimi…(points at her work) O-o…’dee (khandi)....

I looked at her drawing and saw a jellybean-like figure.

Me: What’s that again, Khan?
Khandi: O-o…’dee…(points at her drawing)…O-o…’dee …(points at her bum)…

Dah! Sa tanan-tanan, e-ech man jud kuno iyang ma-imagine sa iya drawing oi. LOL!

mana-mana

cutesycoo
Khandi holding her bibi Ansherina

Last night, I had this funny, bittersweet moment with my daughter.

We were doing the usual routine every time I get home. Around 11pm, I got really tired and sleepy already and so was she but livelier. While we cuddled on the bed, I fell asleep. Then she woke me up because she wants to be carried and lulled to sleep. Then she got stubborn and I got irritable. With her in my arms, I looked at her and expressed my disappointment gently, “Khandi, dugay pa to abot imo daddy. Alas onse na. Kapoy na ayo mommy unya sleepy na pod ka. Di na ta tan-aw Bolt. Sleep na…” and I went on and on until she placed her hand over my mouth as if to hush me and said, “'Mana…'mana…(humana…humana..)” Hehe.

Gisabaan jud nako ang iyat. :hide: But at that moment, I felt like laughing because this trait is so familiar. “One word is enough for a wise man,” I've always believed. =)

Every time I see my daughter take care of her doll Ansherina—wrap her in a blanket, talk to her, carry and cuddle her, kiss and hamag her– love just fills my heart. =)

maka-sulirat

DSC00210
No, it’s not that I don’t have timing. This is exactly how she wants her picture taken. Hihi.

I usually start my week fresh, excited, and full of energy but apparently not today. I thought I had a really weird dream last night but I suppose it was that bad because it seems I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and the rest of my universe conspired. I had to wait 40 minutes for the bus because even if I had decided to take a vhire, there weren’t really no vhires to take me in. The bus it turned out was not air-conditioned so it was really hot. It fueled the depletion of my patience even more, and it was so slow that I arrived at my usual bus stop 20 minutes late. So I decided to ride a cab and it took me more than 5 minutes to get one and the rest is history. I arrived in the office late. I was late for 2 minutes on a Monday, on the first day of the month at that. Let alone spent more than my budget.

I have no further comment.

On the lighter side of things, yes, of course, my daughter’s picture has got to do something with this entry. Hehe. She went to visit a manghihilot with her 2-year old cousin to get a “massage” last Saturday. Haha. She was surprisingly behaved when it was her turn. The massage must have soothed her well. She just held on close to her father and for a while I thought she was going to cry but she held it back. I really think she was inspired by her male cousin to be strong. I believe kids inspire kids, like grownups do to other grownups. This is why I would want my daughter to have friends and playmates as younger as possible. This has always been a concern to me. I’ve observed she always want to make friends with other kids in the “The Playroom” and even at the grocery. We’re thinking of Saturday playdates with at least this one cousin. Bahala nag mabugay og samot ang show. Haha! :hide:

dada and football

I have to admit that one of the reasons that got me attracted to my husband was his love for sports. He loves to play football, tennis, and badminton. It was tennis and badminton that brought us closer together. Tennis was a sport I have tried to learn to play and have loved all my life. It is a sport my father plays well even up to now (buyag). And as for badminton, didn’t we all love to play this ever since we were kids? If it weren’t for my disc hernia, my husband and I would have still played badminton until now.

Sports are right here in my heart. I’d deeply encourage it. So every time I get to watch the most recent Milo commercial, I always become teary-eyed. It was wonderful looking at those kids playing basketball, taekwondo, gymnastics, etc. I wish they’d be forever passionate about it. I hope for all parents (including me) to be encouraging and supportive to their children. And I hope for sports role-models and idols to be honest and true to their influence to the kids and grown-ups who look up to them.

This is just me thinking and wishing out loud. Maybe life's wind of distractions and difficulties would be kinder and perhaps change its course to not blow the wishes all away and let them stay.=)

in her eyes

DSC00112
This photo makes me want to laugh and cry.

I don't think mothers would ever stop gushing over their children. Ceasing it would be like quitting being a mother when you still got a lifetime to be and do so, and what a privilege it would be.

Motherhood is going to take a lifetime, a lifetime of being the best person that you are. And that is a given. Who wouldn't want to be the best in the eyes of one's child?

free ride

Taking a backseat.

There were supposed to be a lot for me in today’s itinerary. But when you see those eyes go wide, wild, and excited that we’re in this place where there are suddenly people, and there is this train ride you can never get enough of, you just know you have to step aside and take the backseat. The ride was a free ride back to childhood--carefree and sheer happy. What a ride, it'd always is.=)
