samu't-sari
straw by straw
Sometimes I wonder if these certain people have the ultimate purpose to make me a saint. Heaven knows I’ve tried to be patient, considerate, and understanding enough to them. Yet still they break my heart, and sadly, all I am left with is the thought that I cannot expect them to be patient, considerate, and understanding as I am to them. I just cannot expect.
A few weeks ago, a friend told me how she got so annoyed with someone who made a comment/suggestion about her new hairstyle. So to stop my friend from lingering on the feeling of getting more annoyed and getting annoyed the next time it happens again, I asked her, “Does this someone’s style or fashion sense matter to you?” She said, “No, not really.” I then said, “So there you go. Don’t get annoyed. Her opinion shouldn’t matter at all.”
I guess what I’m trying to say to her is that whatever hairstyle you choose to wear or whatever clothes you like to wear, you wear it. Be flattered if people like it. But as to people who’d give unsolicited comment and suggestion about what should have been done with your hair or clothes, etcetera, you may have to raise an eyebrow, look at them from head to toe, and ask silently, “Are they talking sense? Or are they in need of a makeover themselves?” Yeah. I know that was mean but I mean it. :hide:
My husband won a prize: a good for two overnight stay at a lush resort somewhere in Lapu-lapu. As you probably have heard from me, this isn’t the first time he got lucky in winning raffle prizes.
Knowing this, people would often tell us, “Taya mog lotto!” with which I would reply, “Maayog padag-un ta sa Ginoo ana nga paagi.” It just happens when it happens.
It’s not that I haven’t pondered on the probable purpose of blessings like these. I did. I do. Not that I have to though.
I am very thankful to God for all these, and especially for a husband like mine. NOT because he could get lucky at raffle draws but because I know he didn’t win just because.
I would be a hypocrite to say that I do not gush at beautiful kitchen displays, household appliances, and an overnight stay at a resort, with eyes open wide. Of course, I do. I’m just a regular girl after all and if I’m not careful, I blurt out things to my husband with pakapin comment na “we just couldn’t afford it”, which I think breaks his heart because he knows that it breaks my heart, too.
Well, I really think he didn’t get lucky just because. The reason I know is in my heart. =)
Belated happy birthday, Josh. =)
