of what I am, what I eat

I’m not really much of a dessert and ice cream person. But I do crave for Pipo’s Durian Ice Cream, always. It’s something I can indulge in without feeling guilty because one cone doesn’t cost that much. Hehe. And I’m not surprised Khandi loves it, too. She can finish off one serving. :hide: This ice cream I can eat all day apart from Selecta’s Quezo Real. =)

******************************

Lately this week, I noticed that an officemate friend and I have been reminiscing about past experiences with friends and family. Then she made a comment, “Alegrehon lagi mo.” I thought about it, and I guess we were in some ways.

I have to admit that my father’s side of the family is humorous. When my grandmother was still alive, we used to celebrate Christmas together religiously. And it was always a riot. I have uncles who love to tease and I have an aunt who loves to sing like Sylvia la Torre. :hide: So during programs when it is the (frustrated) singer aunt’s turn to sing (she always insists to sing), my uncles and my father would gather in front of her, armed with “kaldero” as a video cam and “taklub sa kaldero” as the lighting, and all of us would start convulsing with laughter.

On the other hand, my mother’s side of the family is the more serious type. But they could get a little naïve and with that, funny stories emerge, with the help of my father’s humor of course. I remember my father used to tell a story about an uncle and an aunt in my mother’s side. One day, the aunt tells my uncle, “Dong, naa ko present for you when I arrive from the US.” When my uncle asks her what it was, my aunt gave out a clue, “Basta. Surprise siya. Ma-dala2x nimo siya bisan asa.” My uncle couldn’t hide his excitement that he talked about it with my father. “Unsa kaha to noy noh? Duda nako kay motor. Motor jud to siya, noy, kay ma-dala2x man bisan asa.” My father thought the idea was a little impossible since a motorcycle would be too costly to bring through a plane. But he just said, “Basin, dong.” So when my aunt arrived, my uncle immediately asked for his gift. So my aunt took out a small box. I bet my uncle was still thinking it was a key that’s inside. But no, it was too big a box for a motorcycle key. Guess what’s inside? A walkie-talkie. What a thoughtful gift for a twenty something uncle! Lol!

Until now, these events and stories make me laugh. And I’m grateful for it because it’s something I can hold on to especially during tough times when you can’t seem to understand where things are coming from, and when you get a little confused of how you were built. All these memories I hold dear in my heart and I always never fail to share it with my husband who is now family and soon with my daughter Khandi.
