What's not adorable about little children?

Last night, I had to wait for over an hour to get on a bus. You bet it was a bit tiring. In fact, my back was aching because we were seated on a round metal railing while waiting for our turn. I had to stand up every now and then just to ease my back a bit. And so these were the times when I got to observe the people around me. :hide:

First, there were the nursing students who fell in line before me. They were really funny and I learned from them that “intawn” is the newest expression you could ever use in town (“akong libro intawn”, “intawn akong uniform”, “Liza intawn”). I couldn’t help but smile the entire time I was eavesdropping. Then suddenly a middle-aged woman appeared before us with the guard. The guard pointed to where the students were, “Ngari sugod ang linya, mam,” The woman as if hearing nothing, talked to one of the students, “Kadiyot lang. Ngari magsugod ang linya?” One of the students answered, “Oo”. Then the woman asked again, using her hands to emphasize the length of the line, “So from here to there?” The students chorused, “Yes.” “Okay…okay. At least I know I still have a chance (to get on the bus),” the woman exclaimed and then walked towards the end of the line. I was giggling at this time and was waiting for the students to do the same. But I was surprised they didn’t laugh or say a thing. Instead, they followed the woman with their gaze and when they saw where the woman was seated which was like a kilometer away from us, they all exclaimed to themselves, “Aw. Wa na kay chance, mam! Intawn!”, then sat down. I tried my best not to laugh so hard. Lahi na jud ang mga bag-ong tubo karon. Hehe.

Second, there were those deadma people. A child was amusingly dancing and wiggling in front of us and these girls (both in their early 20s) just stared at the kid like they didn’t see anything at all. I just wonder where their humor was. Maybe they left it at home or at work. They’re just too young to become jaded.
